Phone Lanyard with a USB-C Cable: Fit, Setup & Package Guide

A phone lanyard with a charging cable can keep your phone accessible and a short cable ready for a nearby power bank. The EnergyFort Adjustable Phone Lanyard combines a 75–150cm adjustable strap with two phone tether tabs. Choose the lanyard-only package or add a separate, detachable 30cm USB-C to USB-C cable.

The carrying strap and charging cable have different jobs: the strap supports the phone through a compatible case and tether tab; the short cable connects the phone to a power source. The lanyard does not supply power by itself.

Which package should you choose?

Choose Lanyard Only if you already have a suitable cable and mainly want easier phone access. Choose Lanyard + 30cm USB-C Cable if you want a compact cable for close-range charging. The cable package is useful with a compatible USB-C power bank, but it does not replace a longer cable when the outlet or power source is farther away.

Will it fit my phone and case?

Case construction matters more than the phone brand. The tether tab needs a full-coverage, closed-bottom case with a suitable charging-port opening. An open-bottom case or a large exposed lower edge may let the tab escape and is not suitable for this attachment method.

Check two things separately: whether the case securely holds the tether tab, and whether the USB-C plug can still reach the phone's port. A case can work for carrying even when the included cable is not compatible with the phone's connector. For example, this USB-C to USB-C cable cannot plug directly into a Lightning port.

How to install and check the tether tab

  1. Remove the phone from its case and place one tether tab flat inside the case.
  2. Guide the tab's attachment loop through the case's charging-port opening, keeping the tab body inside the case.
  3. Reinstall the phone and confirm that the case closes normally. The tab should not fold, lift the phone or obstruct the connector.
  4. Attach the lanyard hardware to the exposed tether loop and check that the connection is closed.
  5. With the phone supported over a soft surface, gently check the attachment before wearing it. Stop if the case opens, the tab shifts or the connection feels insecure.

This is a fit check, not a verified load test. Keep the phone's weight on the case, tab and strap. A charging plug is never the carrying attachment.

How should you adjust it for crossbody or neck carry?

The strap adjusts approximately from 75cm to 150cm. Try it over the clothing you normally wear, then set a position where you can comfortably reach the phone without excessive swinging. Fit depends on your body, clothing and preferred phone position; the length range does not guarantee the same fit for everyone.

For crossbody use, check both the resting position and the position when you lift the phone for a photo or map. For neck carry, shorten the strap to a comfortable position and consider the weight of the phone and attached accessories.

How do you use the detachable charging cable?

Use the 30cm cable when the phone and power source are close enough to leave slack. Remove the cable from its storage hardware, expose the USB-C plugs and connect them to a compatible phone and USB-C power source. Keep the phone attached through its tether tab while charging.

Check the cable route with the phone resting and raised. If the cable becomes tight, move the power bank closer, lower the phone or use a longer cable. A 30cm cable cannot be assumed to reach every trouser pocket or bag compartment. Our travel phone and power-bank guide covers this setup in more detail.

What do 240W and 480Mbps actually mean?

The product listing specifies up to 240W charging and up to 480Mbps data transfer for the optional short cable. These ratings do not apply to the strap itself. Actual charging power depends on the power source, cable, device and supported charging protocol; this is not a promise of 240W phone charging or a measured charging time.

USB-IF's USB Power Delivery explanation describes support for up to 240W and devices requesting the power they need. A maximum cable rating therefore does not mean every connected device draws that maximum. Refer to your phone and power bank specifications when choosing a charging setup.

The listed 480Mbps data rate is separate from the charging rating. Do not choose this cable solely for high-speed external-storage or monitor requirements; check those requirements against the cable's explicitly listed capabilities. For a separate USB4 short-cable option, compare the 13cm USB4 keychain cable and its SSD and video-workflow guide. A 240W charging rating alone does not establish USB4 data or display support.

Can it carry small accessories, and does the cord glow?

The modular loops and hardware can hold compatible small, lightweight items such as keys, an earbud case or charms. Check each item's attachment and keep the setup comfortable. There is no verified load rating here for heavy accessories.

The braided cord has reflective details that reflect external light. It does not glow by itself, and it is not a substitute for safety lighting or certified visibility equipment.

Questions before ordering

Is the strap itself a charging cable?

No. This product has a carrying strap and, in the cable package, a separate detachable 30cm USB-C cable. Choose the package with the cable if you need that accessory.

Can I use it without charging?

Yes. Phone carrying works independently of the optional cable, provided the case, tab and strap attachment are suitable.

Will the tether tab block charging?

It depends on the case opening and connector clearance. Install the tab flat and check that the plug fully seats without forcing it. If the tab or case interferes, change the case or attachment setup.

Can I charge while the power bank stays in my pocket?

Only if the 30cm cable reaches with slack throughout the movements you need. Test your actual pocket and phone positions; use a longer cable when the short cable pulls on either port.

Is it a power bank or an anti-theft device?

No battery is included. The strap provides a carrying attachment, but it has no verified anti-theft protection claim and does not remove the need to watch your phone.
